The ladies continue to dominate at CFJ – This month we’ve nominated Stacey Lawrence, the other honey badger.
March: Stacey Lawrence
I’ve been training at CrossFit Jozi since: November 2013
I discovered CrossFit through: My fiancé, Calvin. He started CrossFit in Durban and I wanted something that we could do together as well as treat my condition so I looked up boxes in Joburg and found CrossFit Jozi and have never looked back since.
The most significant change in my health since starting CrossFit has been: I have a condition called fibromyalgia and one way to treat it is with exercise and I have noticed a huge difference in the sense that the pain I experience daily has been reduced dramatically. I am a huge advocate of exercise to treat fibromyalgia and constantly suggest CrossFit, and particularly CrossFit Jozi, as a solution! 🙂
I have had noticeable muscle growth, I am fitter and, overall, I am healthier than I have ever been.
My biggest challenge in CrossFit is: Haha! I would say any gymnastic movement (Seeing as I have minimal upper-body strength), snatches, running and rowing.
The fantastic coaching, the variety of the workouts and the support from such awesome people keeps me coming back.
If I could use one word to describe myself it would be: Efficient lol!
My favourite activity outside of CrossFit is: Reading and relaxing with family.
My favorite place to eat in Jozi is: Kong Sing in Bedford Centre. I have a weakness for sushi!
My proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Jozi is: Taking part in the Open 2015 and actually being able to do the workouts, rope climbing (I’m afraid of heights lol), getting a 50kg Deadlift PB and last but not least, this nomination!
My goals for the remainder of the year are: Work on my gymnastic skills, snatches and come to class more consistently! 🙂
Thank you for the nomination!!
