NAME: Leanne Welch
WHAT DROVE YOU TO JOIN CROSSFIT JOZI ?
Since I stopped playing hockey, I rarely visited the gym and my fitness took a dive. So, with a little nudge from David Eardley, I decided to make the leap and start at CFJ.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER FOR?
I started by GroundWork in June 2016, so almost a year.
WHO INSPIRES YOU?
Pretty much anyone that walks into the box! I think it’s amazing that we can all come together, no matter your fitness level and be able to receive support from everyone no matter the class you go to.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WHEN YOU AREN’T AT THE GYM?
Studying, I have just gone back to being a full time student.
TELL US ONE INTERESTING THING THAT PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I used to be a gymnast and a ballet dancer.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD T.V PROGRAMME?
The Wild Thornberries.
IF YOU HAD TO HAVE A SUPER POWER WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Probably some kind of enhanced flexibility (maybe that way I wouldn’t injury myself continuously haha).
WHAT WOULD YOUR PERFECT WORKOUT BE?
Any workout that excludes thrusters and sleds is cool with me! But probably something that has power cleans and double unders.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CLASS OR SESSION AT CFJ?
We just did the benchmark workout “Chief” – it’s a toughie, not something I’m keen to do again anytime soon haha.
WHAT MIGHT WE FIND IN YOUR FRIDGE AT HOME?
You’ll generally always find chicken breasts and veggies. Oh and almond butter!
WHAT IS THE COOLEST THING THAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED AT CFJ?
Being able to do handstand walks again has been pretty cool. And being able to string together some double unders.
WHAT CHANGES IN YOUR HEALTH HAVE YOU NOTICED SINCE STARTING?
My overall body shape has changed and I have seen major improvements in my eating habits. Summer challenge helped with that.
LIST SOME OF YOUR BIG GOALS.
Short term I’d like to be able to do pullups and strict pushups. Long term, hopefully I’ll to be able to do handstand pushups and muscle ups.
