September 2014 Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Werner Krol – CrossFit Jozi East September 2014 Athlete of the Month

I’ve been training at CrossFit Jozi East since:

Started with the Jump up in May 2014

I discovered CrossFit through:

I have a few friends that are in crossfit. The people that influenced me the most are Wesley Roberts at Crossfit 152 and Hein Grimsell at Crossfit M4M. They both played provincial rugby and to see how much fitter and stronger they became when they started crossfit inspired me. I saw it as a perfect way to train for me as an overweight cyclist.

The most significant change in my health since starting CrossFit has been:

Probably my endurance, overall fitness and weight loss. I saw my improvement of endurance especially when I have taken an hour of my race time (30km mountain bike race) in just the first month since I’ve joined crossfit.

My biggest challenge at CrossFit is:

Getting low in the squat, my hips are like rusted hinges….

…? keeps me coming back.

There are three things I’ve discovered while doing crossfit and those things will always bring me back for more.

1.     When I wake up in the morning and discover slowly exactly which muscles were trained the previous night at the workout.

2.     The METCONS, when my heart rate goes up and it feels like my chest is going to burst.

3.     Being part of the Crossfit Jozi East community. Something you won’t understand if you are not part of it.

If I could use one word to describe myself it would be:

Determined / Driven

My favorite place to eat in Jozi is:

At my family, there is no place like HOME….

My proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Jozi East is:

To be nominated as the athlete of the month…. Maybe 1 day beating Andre… hahaha

My goals for the remainder of the year are:

Pushing through to complete the summer challenge and to complete 15 unbroken kipping pull ups

Weight lost since joining:

+/- 8Kg
